Personal Construct Psychology in Australia
|
|
Personal
Construct Psychology arrived in Australia around 1980. The first
"Auistralasian" conference was held in 1983 at the University of
Wollongong. Wollongong also became the first major centre of PCP
activities in Australia, with the pioneering work of Linda Viney and Beverly Walker. Another centre was the University of Melbourne where Richard Bell developed his ground-breaking elaborations of the computer-based analysis of repertory grids. Jacqui Costigan, also in Melbourne, advanced PCP in the training of nurses, and Bill Warren
at the University of Newcastle represented the "clinical wing" while
also being a leading expert in the philosophical roots of Personal
Construct Psychology. The "next generation" included Bob Green (Brisbane), Julie Ellis (Bendigo), Carol Carter, Heather Foster, Nadia Crittenden, Peter Caputi, and Desley Hennessy in Wollongong.
Australian Authors have contributed to the PCP literature: Australian books.
